What is lighting control?
The phrase lighting control describes change and control of the light output from the luminaire.
The parameters which can be changed and controlled are:
the distribution of light
light levels (strength of luminance)
on/off
Control can be manual or automatic
For example, a dimmer switch allows the operator to manually control the desired light level.
An auto shut-off feature or PIR sensor automatically turns the luminaire off after a designed amount of time or when infrared rays are not detected.
Energy savings
Lighting is the single biggest consumer of energy in an office building.
An optimal lighting control system saves energy cost.
